3 不發聲的字尾子音 

不發聲的字尾子音：有很多人說美語時尾音很重；其實，有很多英文字的字尾子音在說話時，是只有動作但不發聲的，或者只有輕微的一點聲音。下列的練習題中以( )括起來的音是不發聲的，或只需輕輕的點到為止。

省h：有一些句子裡含有代名詞 he/her/him/her 及完成式的 has/have/had 可以不發 h 這個音，而剩下的母音則與前一個字最後的子音連結，如 What does-e (does he) want?

5 母音減弱母音減弱：  

兩個音節以上的字在說話時，重音節以外的音節中的母音會減弱成 ə音。 如receive 說成 rəceive; mistake m əsdake。
